Now Cruising In Becky's Land Yacht
"Becky's land Yacht is a 28ft 1986 Mallard class "A" Recreational Vehicle with a chevy 454 and just 25,000 miles.
For my career I went into electronics, radio communications, teaching (electronics & math), and computer programming. Because of this, my life has been an interesting one full of great adventures. Unfortunately, most of these adventures were work-related, so my wife, Becky, could not participate in them, except from a distance. Becky and I are both Amateur radio operator my call sign is KE0EG, Becky calls are N0HRT, this helped us communicate sometimes when I was away.
Just a couple of my adventures were;
Serving in Germany as a high power long range radio operator & technician with the U.S. Army Signal Corps.
Worked as an instructor of Electricity, Electronics and Math at the post secondary [college] level in Minneapolis Minnesota for severaal years.
Working for the National Science Foundation as a commercial radio operator and communications/electronics technician
at the South Pole Station, Antarctica.
Designed, built, managed, and helped operate, a very powerful and successful long-range radio communications center
in Minnesota, with the help of 250 volunteers mostly from the Amateur Radio community and with the help and support of about 45 companies from across the US. This communication center was named The Desert Voices Project, and it let our troops serving in Operation Desert Storm/Shield (1990-1991) call home from their front-line positions and talk with their families and friends here in the US
I worked with long-range radar maintenance in Barrow, Alaska, within the Arctic Circle for a military contractor.
I retired and I am doing much needed volunteer work making electric power and safe drinking water available up in Haiti's mountain regions for the past eight years.
The First Mate
Becky retired in November 2020 after spending her working career in accounting, bookkeeping, and office management.
Becky holds a valid Amateur Radio License, and her station call-sign is N0HRT. I am sure she will be on the air from the boat. Becky also likes to have a garden. Not much space on the boat for that.
She has helped me with almost everything I have done, and she was a big help scheduling the volunteers that came forward to help with the military support communications center.
Meet Ed's Motor Yacht "The Sandra Faye"
Meet The Sandra Faye. She is a 38-foot Bayliner 3870 Motor Yacht, but she is actually just over 40+ foot long. She was built in 1984 and is powered by a pair of 130hp Mitsubishi diesel engines.
Before we purchased her in 2017, she had been sitting on blocks for two years. To the left are some 2017 photos. #1 is Becky, and I standing by the boat on the day we bought it. Then #2 & #3 are from the day after.
Meet Becky's Land Yacht "The Van"
Meet The Van. She is a 28-foot Mallard Class-A RV [Motor Home]. She was built in 1986 and is powered by a Chevy 454 burning gasoline.
When we purchased her in 2020, she had just 25,000 miles on her years. To the left are some 2017 photos. #1 is Becky, and I standing by the Van. Then #2 & #3 are from the day after.
